I’ve been painting for my entire life. But I’ve never found a more relaxing, fun, and mesmerizing paint process than acrylic pour painting. It’s a process that anyone can do, regardless of artistic ability. It doesn’t require a lot of materials, and with even a limited color palette you can make a series of unique paintings. You’ll never make the same painting twice.
The beauty of acrylic pouring is in how the paint colors naturally interact with each other. The colors blend to create a vast range of tones, while maintaining their own saturation. As a result, textures and patterns resemble fine marbles or complex topography, even outer space.
Once you pick your palette, technique, and have enough paint on the canvas, let the paint do its thing. Resist the urge to overwork a piece. Instead, just watch what happens, and make minor adjustments when needed. Then the paintings emerge with the beautiful complexity of that found in nature.
